Story

We did Egypt 2 as part of our summer camp for Scouts. We left Richfield Monday morning. We stopped at Devil's Garden to play around. The we hit the trail around 1:30. We hiked around to do Rappel #1 Option 3. Shawn got super dehydrated and sick, and Logan had a hard time too. I really enjoyed it (other than giving almost all my water away), and Mason cruised right through it too. We ended up accidentally leaving my short rope somewhere in the pothole section. When we did the canyon in March, it was completely dry. This time around, lots of the potholes were full of water. We made it back to the trailhead around 7:30.

Story

After breakfast, we drove down to Egypt 2 Slot Canyon. We got to the trailhead at 11:00 and finished around 4:30. 

This canyon starts right next to the road. The first rappel is less than 100 ft from where you park. In fact some people even tie their rope to their bumper for the first rappel. However, we had a bunch of kids and didn't have a 300 ft rope, so we opted for the shorter rappel further down canyon. We were following beta from Road Trip Ryan, but we didn't bother punching coordinates into a GPS, so we ended up dropping into the canyon a little lower than they did. We obviously weren't the first group to drop in where we did because there was some webbing and a rappel ring tied around a tree.

Savannah went down the first rappel all by herself. Granted, we lowered her so she didn't have to use the rappel device, but she still went right down even though she was nervous. I had a very proud Dad moment.

On the hike out, there is a steep section of slick rock you have to climb up right below the boulder field that makes up the lip of the canyon. People with poor traction or climbing skills will need someone to keep their feet from slipping.
