Leviathan Cave is very fragile, so please tread softly. Don't remove anything from the cave, and leave the area better than you found it. Help us preserve this beautiful cave for future generations.

The entrance to the cave is a large pit in the ground. You can rappel 300 feet over the northeastern lip of the entrance, or you can rappel 30 feet over the southern lip. Even though I had my vertical gear with me, I chose not to use it and instead opted to downclimb the 30-ft rope.

Once inside the pit, ropes are not necessary. When I went, we only had time to explore the northern arm of the cave, which was amazing. The cave has many stalagmites, stalagtites, columns, soda straws, cave bacon, cave popcorn, and rimstone pools.

There is also an animal skull and several bones that have been covered with a layer of calcite.

Bat bones can be found in the bottom of the rimstone pools.
