Rock Hounding | Glitter Mountain (aka Glitter Pits, Sparkle Mountain)

Glitter Mountain is a selenite mine located just outside St. George, Utah. Many websites claim that the mine is abandoned. However, after our visit, we were told that the mining operation is still active and that the owners don't want people collecting selenite from their mine. It's still free to visit, but please respect the owner's wishes.

I went down to St. George for a conference and had a little extra time, so I dropped by the Little Black Mountain Petroglyphs and then over to Glitter Mountain before heading home.
