The pack toss is just as it sounds. You tie a rope to your pack and toss your pack over the lip of the pothole. This provides a counterweight that you can use to hold the rope when you climb out. The pack can be as light or heavy as you need. It works best when there is a vertical face on the other side of the lip. You can toss the pack from up canyon or from in the pothole or even while being boosted by someone.
