Overview

Hype:

This cave gets its name because when looking down from the entrance, the two holes look like owl eyes. Rappel down about 30 feet to a point where it levels off. Then feed your rope through a hole in the ground and rappel another 70 ft into the bottom room. This is a fun rappel because you free fall without touching the walls. The cave is quite cold, so the climb back out is fun since everyone's fingers are numb.

Blue Owl Cave was one of the first vertical caves I ever did. Jeff Baird was kind enough to let me tag along and to teach me the ropes.
