Story

We took the 11-year-old Scouts to Cedar Breaks National Monument as part of our August camp out. We stopped at the visitor center, and the ranger told us a little bit about the geology of Cedar Breaks. We learned that the white rocks are calcium carbonate from olds shells, the purple is from manganese, and the orange is from iron oxide. Then we walked out to the overlook and admired the views. Then we went and set up camp, ate dinner, then hiked to Spectra Point.
