Every year for the past 50 years, the Timpanogos Gem and Mineral Society presents a three day indoor show. At this show there are hundreds of displays of collections and demonstrations of the various techniques of how to transform plain old rocks and fossils into specimens of beauty. They have a large display table with specimens of over a hundred types of rocks and minerals that can actually be touched or picked up to examine. Our prime interest in presenting the show is to share this vast store of knowledge and natural beauty with the general public...Especially the younger members of our communities! They also have vendors who make mineral specimens, fossils and various collectible and related items available. They have a catering service that has great fast food, snacks and drinks available. Groups are welcome anytime during the weekend, but will be specially catered to on Friday.

Tara, Cooper, and I met my dad at the gem and mineral show and we perused for an hour or so. We bought a couple of rocks including a bag of topaz dirt kids could sift through to find topaz.

The girls each bought some fun stuff. Savannah bought a rock grab bag and got a rock polished, and she got a rock necklace. Madilyn bought a grab bag, carborundum, aragonite, and a couple polished rocks. I bought some fossils, an amythist crystal, and a septarian nodule.
