Overview

Hype:

The Church of Nossa Senhora do Carmo of Sabara, in the Brazilian state of Minas Gerais, is an important example of the artistic tradition Baroque and Rococo in the country. It is particularly notable for having received the contribution of master Aleijadinho in various elements of its decoration, and the Brotherhood that governs it still preserves secular traditions.

Story

One of the members in our area was a taxi driver, and she offered to take us on a sightseeing drive in Sabara. It was outside our mission boundaries, but we got special permission to go. We visited a bunch of old Catholic churches. On the way back, she turned left through bumper-to-bumper traffic, and a motorcycle that was splitting lanes crashed into the side of our car. His helmet came right through my window. I saw him coming and threw myself sideways onto the seat, so I only got showered with broken glass.
