Hype:
Sapucaia has unsurpassed attributes in the region in relation to other parks. Located in the southern part of the town of Montes Claros, it covers part of the serra do mello mountain. In the urban area, today it has paved street access with a bus line. Inside the park, there are three large feeding structures, two of them located high in the mountain, children's toys, trails with rock paving in the steepest parts and handrails, sometimes wooden rope, typical forest, animals and various insects. There is a small stream with small falls. A swinging cable bridge. A runway for hang gliding with spectacular viewpoint of the city and something almost unheard of in the country, a cable car. All of this is the Parque Sapucaia in Montes Claros. I say it was, because during the last 2 decades the city has not maintained the park, so today everything is falling apart, abandoned, or destroyed, down to the heavy and thick woods of the lane, steel cables and chairs of the cable car, tiles, crockery and anything else from the old restaurants was stolen or broken or burnt. And this is the story of those who knew and enjoyed Sapucaia Park.

Jeremy Dye, others,
We visited Sapucaia a couple of time with different groups of missionaries. I remember thinking it was so crazy that this old amusement park was just sitting there and people could just wander around it and explore.
