Madi went to the state capitol building for a school field trip. They had arranged for the representative the state house to speak to them, but they got the elementary schools mixed up and had the wrong person speak to them.

The only thing I remember about our trip to the capitol building (I was almost 8 years old at the time) was that I begged my mom to let me take a picture with her camera. I had never taken a picture before, so my Mom explained how to do it, and I went down to the bottom of the stairs to take a picture of everyone else. I was so excited! I got the picture all framed right then took the picture. When we developed the film, I thumbed through the whole stack of pictures to find the one that I had taken. I was so disappointed to see that my picture wasn't in there. I must have only pushed the button down part way, enough to engage the focus motor, but not enough to take the picture. That was my first experience as a photographer.
