This project focused on restoring and enhancing the architectural character of a historic home through the addition of a period-appropriate balcony railing, decorative knee braces, and corbels. Each element was carefully designed to complement the home’s original proportions, rooflines, and Victorian-era detailing while improving safety and structural support. The balcony railing was crafted to reflect traditional profiles and spacing, reinforcing the symmetry of the façade without overpowering the existing architecture. Hand-built knee braces and purchased corbels were added beneath the roof overhangs and balcony, reintroducing visual depth and shadow lines that are characteristic of historic residential design. Throughout the project, attention was given to material selection, scale, and craftsmanship to ensure the new components blended seamlessly with the original structure. The result is a thoughtful exterior upgrade that restores lost detail, strengthens the visual rhythm of the façade, and honors the historic integrity of the home while extending its life for future generations.
