Overview

Hype:

Named after a local Dutch cattleman, the arch is composed of the Jurassic-age Wingate Sandstone deposited in ancient sand dunes. The arch has a span about 31 feet. The arch is clearly visible right next to the road. You can drive right up to it.

Getting There

Navigate to 38.872303, -110.787719.

Even though it looks close to I-70, it's actually a 10-mile drive on dirt roads to reach Dutchman Arch. From I-70, take exit 131 for Sinbad Road and head south. I'm not going to detail out the turn-by turn navigation on how to get there, but I've shown the approach drive on the map below.

Route

You can drive right to the arch.

Jeremy Dye,

Story

I stopped at Dutchman Arch on my way to a canyoneering trip. After I drove out to the arch, the next time I was driving down I-70, I noticed that I could see the arch from the freeway.
