Overview

Hype:

The WaterWorks exhibit at Springs Preserve is inside the Charleston Heights Pumping Station, an operational water pumping facility owned and operated by the Las Vegas Valley Water District. WaterWorks features dynamic, hands-on experiences that engage visitors in the inner workings of water resource treatment and delivery in Southern Nevada. Touch replicated quagga mussels, look at harmful water contaminants using a microscope, examine rock samples excavated from hundreds of feet below Lake Mead's surface and more at WaterWorks, the Springs Preserve's newest permanent exhibit.

Story

During spring break with the Laurendeaus, we went to Springs Preserve and had a great time. We walked through several of the museums and took the train ride to Boom Town. We walked over to Waterworks and then went back to the cars for lunch. We had a picnic lunch in the parking lot. After lunch, we went over to the butterfly house, which was a little bit underwhelming because there weren't very many butterflies due to storms back east. We then went to the outdoor animal exhibits. The kids were getting pretty tired by that point, so the Laurendeaus took the younger kids back to the hotel and Savannah and Alex and Tara and I went through the Nevada Museum and then went back at the hotel.
