Overview

Hype:

The Fire Wave Trail is a 1.25-mile hike across slickrock and sand. The trail passes the Fire Wave, which is a red, pink, and white sandstone area similar to The Wave near Kanab. Hikers can continue on the Seven Wonders Loop, which adds 0.5 miles of hiking, or return the way they came.

Trail Condition: Class 1 (Trail is either paved or gravel. Navigation skills are not needed because there is only one trail or because there are signs. Elevation gains are gradual or there are stairs.)

Time: 1-2 hours

Length: 1.25 miles round trip

Elevation Gain: 300 ft

Getting There

Navigate to 36.488359, -114.528454.

Park in the P3 parking area on either side of the road. The trailhead is at the east end of the parking area.

Route

Beginning at the P3 parking area, walk east as the trail passes along the base of a rocky outcropping, wiggling among several large boulders. After 0.6 miles, you'll come to the Fire Wave, which is a red, pink, and white sandstone area similar to The Wave near Kanab. This is the end of the Fire Wave trail, and you can return the way you came.

Story

After our hikes to White Domes and Rainbow Vista, we did one more hike to the Fire Wave. Cooper, Lila, and Trey were dragging pretty hard, so Matt and I stayed with them where the trail crosses the road while the rest of the group finished the hike. Then they picked up the vehicles and retrieved us.
