Overview

Hype:

The Panoramic Point Trail is a short, easy hike to two breathtaking overlooks. From the overlooks, the view stretches across most of Kings Canyon National Park. It also sweeps upward nearly two vertical miles from Hume Lake to some of the tallest Sierran peaks. Across its breadth, this scene shows one of the greatest expanses of wilderness in this country.

Trail Condition: Class 1 (Trail is either paved or gravel. Navigation skills are not needed because there is only one trail or because there are signs. Elevation gains are gradual or there are stairs.)

Time: 15-45 minutes

Length: 0.4 miles round trip

Elevation Gain: 100 ft

Fees: Park Entrance

Route

This short loop can be done in either direction. From the trailhead, head south. The trail is easy to follow and takes you to two overlooks.

Story

We hiked out to the overlooks. The kids were hiked out by this point. Cooper had the hardest time because I made him hike the whole thing because it was a short hike. He did alright on the hike up, but on the way down, he acted like it was the end of the world. He left his shoe on the trail, and I had to backtrack most of the way up the hill to get it.
