Description
If you need to ascend a rope, and all you have is accessory cord, here is one way you can rig the ropes.
- Tie a slide & grip knot like the Valdotain Tresse to the rope at head height.
- Connect a 2- to 3-foot length of rope or a personal anchor system from the slide & grip knot to your harness.
- Connect another length of rope with a footloop to the slide and grip knot at head height.
- Tie a second slide & grip knot at waist height.
- Connect this directly to your harness.
How to ascend:
- Slide the upper slide & grip knot up the rope as far as you can.
- Stand up on the foot loop.
- Slide the lower slide & grip up as far as you can.
- Sit down so the lower slide & grip knot takes your weight.
- Slide the upper knot up.
- Stand up.
- Slide the lower knot up.
- Sit down.
- Repeat 1 million times.
