Hype:
Those modestly prepared for an actual hike will enjoy the somewhat greater outback ruggedness of our Wilderness Trail. The trail starts at the top of Ted's Ridge (at the upper terminus of the SkyTrail ride) and proceeds approximately a mile (mostly downhill) through the wildest section of the Trees of Mystery property. The Wilderness Trail is an optional way down the mountain for experienced hikers with proper footwear. If you are not especially dressed for hiking in the woods, or found some of our other trails even slightly challenging, we recommend trying it some other time when you are better prepared. If prepared for the trek, your adventure will be rewarded with a wilder view of this forest as it has stood for eons. Trail is subject to closure depending on weather conditions.
Trail Condition: Class 2 (Trail may have tree roots or rocks jutting out. Navigation skills may consist of following rock cairns and choosing turns at junctions. Elevation gains may be more substantial.)

We took the Kingdom of Trees trail up to the tram. We took the Forest Experience Trail on the way. Then we took the Sky Trail (gondola ride) up to the lookout. Everyone else rode the Sky Trail back down, and I ran down the Wilderness Trail. It took me right around 8 minutes, and the others only beat me down by less than a minute. From the bottom of the Gondola, we walked down the Trail of Tall Tails and admired all the chainsaw statues. Then we stopped at the End of the Trail Museum and gift shop and got a souvenir magnet.
