Hype:
The Hiouchi Visitor Center is the northern gateway to Redwood National and State Parks and can be found nine miles northeast of Crescent City on Highway 199. Hiouchi is a great spot for a summer picnic and offers exhibits on coast redwoods, wildlife, and preservation history. While you are there you can watch a twelve minute film on the redwoods, "Trees of the Coast Redwood Forest," and enjoy a self-guided walk with wayside exhibits located just outside. The welcoming central desk is where you’ll find National Park Rangers in the north to give you detailed information about the area and invite you to browse our wide selection of books on cultural and natural history. This Center is open year-round.

We stopped at the Hiouchi Information Center on our way to Crescent City so we could grab a map, stamp our passport, and buy a magnet. We also watched the park film.
