The Water Anchor (W'anchor) is ideal for use as a rappelling anchor when there is a vertical edge to the pothole and the water level is below the brim. To rig a Water Anchor:
Roll and lock off the bottom flap.
Fill the Water Anchor with enough water to support your rappelling weight, and preferable a lot more.
Roll and lock off the top flap.
Attach your rappel rope to the top straps.
Back up the Water Anchor with a meat anchor to make sure the Water Anchor can support the weight of a person without being pulled down on top of the rappeller.
All but two people rappel down, saving the lightest person for last.
Attach a pull cord to the bottom release cable.
Deploy the pull cord down.
The second-to-last person rappels down and ensures that the pull cord is not tangled.
The last person rappels down, being careful not to accidentally pull the pull cord.
From the bottom, pull the pull cord. The pull cord should fall all the way to the ground. This releases the bottom flap, which empties the water.
Wait for 30 seconds for the water to all drain out. You may need to keep some pressure on the rappel rope to keep the water draining.
Pull the rappel rope. The Water Anchor will fall down together with the rope.
