Hype:
The Belly of the Dragon is a man-made tunnel under Highway 89 about 1 mile south of Mount Carmel Junction. The tunnel started out as a circular boring through the sandstone, but over time, water has carved a shallow canyon in the floor. The Belly of the Dragon has easy access, making it very popular with tourists to the Zion area.

From the parking area, walk southeast about 200 feet. There is an easy climb over some concrete walls down to the floor.
Continue east for about 330 feet through the tunnel to the other side.
Return the way you came.

Belly of the Dragon was the first place we stopped during our 2021 spring break trip to Kanab. There were way more people there than I was expecting. We enjoyed walking through and seeing the tunnel and also challenged ourselved to downclimb and upclimb the exit drop.
