Hype:

The Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Paris is a Roman Catholic church and minor basilica, dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. A popular landmark, the basilica is located at the summit of the butte Montmartre, the highest point in the city. The Sacre-Coeur Basilica was designed by Paul Abadie. Construction began in 1875 and was finished in 1914. It was consecrated after the end of World War I in 1919.

Story

This church is definitely very prominent. It's at the top of the tallest hill in Paris. We rode the hop-on-hop-off bus out to the church. When we got to the bottom of the hill, we were faced with a huge flight of stairs, which was extremely daunting for Dad. Luckily they had a little tram that we rode to the base of the church. We toured the church, then Dad got a phone call from work with OSHA problems. Tara and I paid the extra money to go up to the dome, which was awesome. We had to climb about a million steps (so I don't remember how many, but it was a lot) to get up there. Once up in the dome, we could look out over all of Paris from the highest building on the highest hill. We had fun taking some fun pictures.
