Hype:
Slide Rock is 80 feet long and 2.5 to 4 feet wide, with a seven percent decline from top to bottom. Algae on the rocks creates a very slippery ride. The entire swimming area is nearly 1/2 mile long, but most of the attention is focused on the natural water slide.

Park at the parking lot then follow the Pendley Homestead Trail north for 0.25 miles until you see a sign for the Slide Rock Swim Area. Go down the stairs to the edge of the river and follow the river upstream to the swim area.

We were hoping to hike Call of the Canyon (West Fork) as a group, but the Dyes, Wagners, and Laurendeaus got a late start and the parking lot was full. So we went down to Slide Rock State Park instead. We walked the Pendley Homestead trail and explored the swim area. The kids waded around and built rock dams in the water. The adults mostly lounged on the bank and hung out. After a couple hours, we had a picnic lunch at one of the picnic tables then we hiked West Fork. The Parkers visited Slide Rock after their West Fork hike.
