Hype:

Little Wildhorse Canyon is one of the most popular hikes near Goblin Valley State Park. Many people choose to hike up Little Wildhorse Canyon and down Bell Canyon.

Trail Condition: Class 2 (Trail may have tree roots or rocks jutting out. Navigation skills may consist of following rock cairns and choosing turns at junctions. Elevation gains may be more substantial.)

Time: 3-4 hours

Length: 3.2 miles one way

Elevation Gain: 450 ft

Story

Tara and the kids went with the Parkers and the Millers to Goblin Valley and up Little Wildhorse Canyon during Spring Break. They had a blast! This was the first hike Cooper went on that he wanted to hike the whole way.

Story

Saturday morning, we hiked Little Wild Horse Canyon. It was a really fun hike and was age-appropriate. We took is slow and took lots of picture in trees, along cliffs, and everywhere else we could imagine.

Zac and I shimmied up a crack on the side of a cliff and Zac showed me up by climbing down the cliff, which I wimped out on.

When we got to some standing water in the canyon, everyone turned back except for Ondy, Zac, and me.

We were told to meet everyone at the parking lot within a half-hour of when they got back. So we raced ahead, chimneying across the water and stopped and took pictures at the holey wall. Then we turned back to catch up to the group.

We got held up when a group of one million kids and their adult escorts were crossing the great water passage.

When they got through, we ran full speed down the canyon.

Ondy dropped out of the race first, then Zac stopped running too. The only thing keeping me going was knowing what Zac would say if he beat me. So we booked it down the canyon and caught up to the group before they even got out of the canyon.

I went like I was going to keep running, but Tara would have none of it. I'd left her behind once already. Eventually she relented, and Zac and I raced neck-and-neck to the parking lot. Zac says he would have beat me if he hadn't tripped going up a hill, but he was just making excuses. Seriously, I had him beat fair and square.
