Description
Knowing how to efficiently stuffing a rope bag can save you a ton of time, especially when you're doing long canyons with lots of rappels. When you stuff the rope bag, you want the rope to flake on top of itself inside the bag in a random order to reduce loops that get tangled together. It's not as compact, but it saves a lot of time and tangles. You would never want to coil a rope and put it in a rope bag.
- Stack the rope on the ground with no tangles. Or to save time, this step can be done by a second person concurrently while the first person is stuffing the bag.
- Use carabiners to clip one rope bag handle to your left gear loop and the other handle to your right gear loop. This will hold the bag open at waist level. Alternatively, if you have extra people, you can have your extra person hold open the bag. If you have a person holding the bag, it's best to kneel down so the bag is on the ground.
- Clip a carabiner to your helmet chin strap.
- Run the rope through the carabiner on your chin strap.
- Using both your hands in an alternating fashion, pull down on the rope starting just below your chin strap and ending inside the bag.
- Periodically stop to smash down the rope inside the bag.
