Hype:
Sigatoka Sand Dunes National Park is located on the Fiji island of Viti Levu near the mouth of the Sigatoka River. The national park encompasses an area of 0.68 square miles, making it one of the smallest national parks in the world. The parabolic sand dunes reach heights up to 10 feet. The dunes are thousands of years old. The dunes are comprised of a fine greyish brown colored sediment that differs from the traditional fine sandy tan dunes in most places. Additionally, the dunes have vines and shrubs covering much of them. The Sigatoka Sand Dunes were the first national park declared for the country of Fiji and often described as one of Fiji’s natural wonders.

Jeremy Dye, Tara Dye, Savannah Dye,
We went to the Sigatoka Sand Dunes National Park. They didn't accept cards and we didn't have Fijian cash, so we paid $20 USD for the $25 FJD fee, which was about double. We filled up our hydration packs and did their longer 2-hour hike across the sand dunes. I brought my GoPro Fusion 360 camera and took a video on the sand dunes next to the ocean for the escape room. Then down on the beach, we played in the surf for a few minutes while we waited for another group to walk far enough down the beach that we couldn't see them. Tara and Savannah continued down the beach so I could get another video of the beach for the escape room. I set up the camera right where the dry sand met the wet sand then went over a berm so I could hide from view. I was hoping to get a good shot for our Moroni's Quest room with the Brother of Jared scene. I was a little nervous about the waves knocking the camera over, but at the same time, I didn't want to poke my head over the berm to check. So I waited for 4 minutes before checking. When I peeked up, at first I thought I was looking in the wrong spot because I couldn't see the camera. But then I ran down to the water edge and saw it tumbling in the surf out to sea. I could see the tripod legs tumbling just above the water. I emptied my pockets as fast as I could and took off my socks and shoes and ran out into the ocean fully clothed. I felt around as much as I could but couldn't locate the camera. After a few minutes, I gave up, gathered my stuff, and walked down the beach to meet up with Tara and Savannah. We had to finish our hike quickly because we had a reservation at 1:00 and had to get lunch first. The hike was hot but enjoyable. We especially liked how green and tropical everything was.
