Overview

Hype:

Stud Horse Point is a narrow promontory branching off a wide mesa overlooking the west side of Lake Powell, spanning the Utah-Arizona border a few miles north of Page. The rocks along one part of the rim of the mesa have eroded to form a fine set of hoodoos, some very large, and made even more photogenic by the grand views eastwards towards the lake.

Jeremy Dye,

Story

Along the approach to Wildcat Tank Canyon, I took a quick detour up to the hoodoos. Everyone else viewed them from afar. I assumed that the rest of the group would rig the first rappel into the canyon and that I'd join in at the end, but when I got back down, they were all standing around waiting for me to assess the anchor before anyone started rappelling. I guess I inadvertantly held everyone up. Whoops.
