Getting There

Navigate to 37.909493, -110.556133.

Route

Approach

Route-find yoru way 0.4 miles from the 4x4 parking to the head of the canyon. Rim walk along the north rim until you get to a break in the cliff that you can climb down.

Canyon

Follow the canyon down to the confluence with Jilted Lover. There are a couple of minor obstacles that may require a lower or handline for some members of your group. Also, depending on rains, there will likely be at least two pools with water. All obstacles should be straight-forward for experienced canyoneers.

Exit

Once at the confluence, hike directly up the nose between Blushing Bride and Jilted Lover. Follow the ridge up as high as you can. At the canyon rim, the sandstone is very loose and crumbly. Some people may wish to climb up here, but there is a much better upclimb further to the west. Once at the rim, route-find your way back to the trailhead.

Story

It rained a lot the whole week before our trip, so this normally dry canyon (except for two small pools) was chock-full of water. The temperatures were in the 60s, but there was a lot of wind, so it was quite chilly when we were wet.

This was a family-friendly trip with several beginners, so we took it a little bit slow and easy. We shuttled most of the group, including all of the kids, over each water section. This involved a zip-line section, several lowers, some stemming with kids on our laps or hanging from our harnesses, and some wading with people standing on shoulders.
