Cueva del Indio (Spanish for "cave of the Indian") is a seaside cave located along limestone cliffs in Islote, Arecibo along Puerto Rico's Atlantic coast. The cave and its surroundings are protected by the Puerto Rico Department of Natural and Environmental Resources (DRNA) as the Cueva del Indio Nature Reserve. The cave gets its name after the numerous petroglyphs created by the Taínos. In addition to the cave, there are several sea arches along the beach within walking distance.

Story

We rinsed off at our apartment then went to Cueva Del Indio. The surf was really high, so we weren't able to explore all of the lower parts of the cave, but we did climb down in the cave and see the rock carvings, which were really cool.

Madi especially liked the giant crabs that were crawling around on the rocks. The cave reminded me of the cave in The Goonies. Side note: I watched The Goonies for the first time on the plane ride. We then walked down the beach a ways to a couple more sea arches. That was a lot of fun and we got some great pictures and videos.

We finished up that adventure around 5:00 then went to dinner at a Puerto Rican restaurant right on the beach.
