Hype:

The Ernest F. Coe Visitor Center is at the Homestead entrance. Here you will find information about the Everglades, an informational movie, an interactive gallery display and a bookstore. If you have just one hour in the Everglades, the Royal Palm Information Station and Bookstore is a great place to stop. You can spend as little or as much time here as you would like. Located a little over a mile away from the Homestead park entrance is Royal Palm. Ranger-led walks and talks are conducted here. The visitor center here includes a small bookstore, restrooms and vending machines.

Story

On Saturday, we headed south to the southern portion of the Everglades. We stopped at the Royal Palm Visitor Center and did two short boardwalk hikes. On the first one, we coincidentally got there right as the ranger-led walk was starting, so we joined that.
