Overview

Hype:

The Peekaboo Loop Trail in Bryce Canyon is arguably the second-best trail in the park, after the Queens Garden/Navajo Loop combo. The Peekaboo Loop Trail can be hiked as a loop starting at the rim near Bryce Point for a total hiking distance of 5 miles, or it can be hiked in combination with the Queens Garden/Navajo Loop trails to create the "Figure-8 Combo" for a total of 6.4 miles. The Peekaboo Loop Trail passes through some amazing sections of Bryce Canyon that are not visible from any of the overlooks. It passes some intricate hoodoos, several small windows, and two large windows.

Trail Condition: Class 2 (Trail may have tree roots or rocks jutting out. Navigation skills may consist of following rock cairns and choosing turns at junctions. Elevation gains may be more substantial.)

Story

We hiked the Figure-8 Combo, which is advertised as 6.4 miles and 4-5 hours. We started at Sunrise Point, hiked down the Queens Garden Trail, visited Queens Garden, hiked the Peekaboo Loop Trail clockwise, hiked up the Navajo Loop Trail, visited Sunset Point, then hiked the Rim Trail back to Sunrise Point. We passed several families with the parents carrying kids in backpacks and we commented to each other that we were glad to be hiking with just us. We stopped twice for about 15 minutes each time to take 360 video for the escape room. We also said hi to lots of people on the trail, especially those who were avoiding eye contact. The day was a little cool but the sun came out for a while and we hiked without jackets for at least half of the time.
