Hype:

Hawaii Volcanoes National Park protects two of the world’s most active volcanoes, Mauna Loa and K?lauea, offering a rare opportunity to see Earth in the act of creation. Story

Because of the ongoing eruption, most of the national park was closed when we went. Stopping along the road was prohibited due to fallin debris. We went to the temporary visitor center at the Mokupapapa Discovery Center.
