Hype:
Lydgate Park is located on the East side of Kauai adjacent to the Wailua River. The two rock enclosed ponds create a safe haven from the open ocean waves, while still allowing the small reef fish to move into the pond through the crevices. This spot will almost guarantee that you will see a variety of tropical fish. The protected calm waters, posted lifeguard and variety of fish make this the perfect beginner beach for snorkeling. Lydgate Park is a great family beach for swimming, picnicking and snorkeling in two protected lagoons. Lifeguards, full facilities, picnic areas, Kamalani playground and the 2.5 mile paved coastal path makes this a great choice for the whole family.Time:

When we went to Lydgate Park, the beach was covered with driftwood. We're not sure if that's normal or if it was from all the recent flooding. We really liked the Kalamani Playground and wished our kids were there so they could play on it.
