Hype:
This trail's location means only the most dedicated adventurers will ever see it, as it's only accessible by hiking over three miles down the Nualolo Trail or the Awaawapuhi Trail. Consider the trail the "bridge" that connects the other two trails in a sort of giant loop. In fact, that's exactly how we recommend folks hike it. The Nualolo Cliff Trail meets the Nualolo Trail between the 3-mile and 3.25-mile markers and meets the Awaawapuhi Trail near the 3 mile point. Prior to 2018, the Nu'alolo Cliff Trail was closed due to hazardous cliffside conditions and trail collapses, but in 2018 the trail was rerouted away from the cliff edge to meet up with the Nualolo Trail almost half a mile further southeast.Time:

We hiked the big loop counter-clockwise. We hiked the Awa'awapuhi Trail first, then the Nualolo Cliff Trail, and finally the Nualolo Trail. We started hiking at 8:30 a.m. and finished a few minutes before 3:00 p.m. We had rain in the morning, so all the plants were wet, but enjoyed the trails a lot. The views at the end were especially breathtaking. The Awaawapuhi Trail was probably our favorite hike of our trip.
