Hype:
This timbered-setting campground sits just off the Nebo Loop, a National Scenic Byway. Visitors enjoy the campground for its beautiful panoramic views and great trail opportunities. The dominant vegetation consists of fir, pine, aspen, and Gambel oak trees, which provide partial shade and nice fall color. Broad grassy meadows cover the areas around the trees. Summer wildflowers and wildlife are abundant. 5 miles away is Payson Lake, a fifteen acre day-use lake stocked with rainbow and brown trout fishing, canoeing, swimming and picnicking. The campground has a horse loop with horse facilities. There are hiking trails nearby. Bird watching, fishing, hiking, snowshoeing, wildlife viewing are some of the popular activities for this area. The Mount Nebo Wilderness Area is adjacent, brimming with beautiful mountain scenery, pristine waters, abundant wildlife, vibrant summer wildflowers and numerous trail opportunities. We camped at Blackhawk Campground for a ward campout. It was a ton of fun. Everyone did their own dinner, and breakfast was provided.
