Overview

Hype:

The Bald Mountain Trail in Utah's Uinta Mountains is a rewarding high-altitude hike that offers some of the most spectacular panoramic views in the region. Starting at an elevation of over 10,700 feet, this 2.8-mile round-trip trail climbs steadily to the summit of Bald Mountain at 11,943 feet. The hike is relatively short but challenging due to the elevation, making it a popular choice for adventurers looking to experience the unique beauty of the Uintas without an all-day trek. Along the way, hikers are treated to breathtaking vistas of Mirror Lake, the surrounding peaks, and the expansive Uinta Basin. With its stunning scenery and accessible trailhead, the Bald Mountain Trail is a must-do for outdoor enthusiasts exploring Utah’s alpine wilderness.

Trail Condition: Class 2 (Trail may have tree roots or rocks jutting out. Navigation skills may consist of following rock cairns and choosing turns at junctions. Elevation gains may be more substantial.)

Story

Originally we were going to get up early to go hiking, but since the weather was quite nice up at high elevation, we didn't have to get up early. We took it kind of slow and had breakfast then most of the group hiked Bald Mountain. Missy stayed back with Madi. Shaun, Leah, and Cooper stopped at the bottom of the last big hill to the summit. Everyone else made it to the top. The weather was awesome, and we enjoyed the view and the cool breeze from the summit. We could see a whole bunch of kayakers on Mirror Lake, which was fun.
