Story

Friday, September 5 – We packed for our Dye family fall camping trip, which went pretty quickly because we were taking the trailer. The kids were not excited to go camping for the third weekend in a row. Savannah especially was very resistant. She fell asleep on the drive over. We spent Friday night and Saturday night at Whiting Campground in Mapleton. We cooked hot dogs over a fire, then played some campfire games, including the improvisation “Question Response” game. Then we talked until bedtime.

Saturday, September 6 – We played some Pinochle in the morning, then played a round of Just One. Anthony and Ondy and their kids and Cooper went to Juniper’s birthday party for a few hours. Tara went to visit her dad at the hospital. He had fallen while getting out of the car, cut his face on the driveway, broke some bones in his face, and had a brain bleed. The rest of us (Mamaw, Papaw, Savannah, Madi, and I) hung out at camp. We created a few puzzle challenges for Buzzle. We played Rummikub and some more Pinochle. After lunch, Anthony was feeling sick and spent the rest of the afternoon in his tent. Cooper and Miller had a blast riding their bikes and scooters down the main campground road. In the evening we hung out around the campfire and played more campfire games. We sent the kids to bed, and the adults stayed up talking around the fire. We went to bed around midnight when it started raining. It was fun to catch up and swap stories.

Sunday, September 7 – We played some Pinochle in the morning and a round of Codenames. My parents packed up and went home shortly after breakfast. Anthony’s family left mid-morning. Ondy and our family stayed until after lunch. We packed up and went home, then unpacked and showered.
