Hype:
This primitive camping spot on Forest Road 462, located just southwest of the Bald Mountain Trailhead and near Mirror Lake in Utah, offers a rugged yet accessible outdoor experience. While the surrounding Uinta Mountains provide stunning alpine scenery and a peaceful atmosphere, this camping area can become quite crowded, especially during peak season. Dispersed campsites offer no amenities, so it's best suited for self-sufficient campers seeking a back-to-basics experience. Its proximity to Mirror Lake and the Bald Mountain Trailhead makes it a convenient base for hiking, fishing, and exploring the area's natural beauty.

Thursday, August 01 - When I got home from work, we finished packing everything into the truck and getting the trailer hooked up then we drove up into the Uintas for a camping trip with the Kirkhams. We camped between Trial Lake and Moose Horn Lake near the base of Bald Mountain. We set up camp, had dinner, and hung out around the campfire.
Friday, August 02 - I had a shareholder meeting for work, so I drove down to Kamas so I could join the call. I exchanged our empty propane cylinder from the trailer for a full one, which we used for the camp chef because we forgot a propane cylinder for the camp chef. After lunch, we went to Trial Lake and had fun paddling around on the kayaks and paddle board. We played frisbee from kayaks which was a new level of difficulty. We also saw how many people we could pile on the paddle board before it tipped over. The water was freezing cold. We went back to camp for dinner and told stories around the campfire of things that got us in trouble. Shaun had the most stories.
Saturday, August 03 - Originally we were going to get up early to go hiking, but since the weather was quite nice up at high elevation, we didn't have to get up early. We took it kind of slow and had breakfast then most of the group hiked Bald Mountain.
Missy stayed back with Madi. Shaun, Leah, and Cooper stopped at the bottom of the last big hill to the summit. Everyone else made it to the top. The weather was awesome, and we enjoyed the view and the cool breeze from the summit. We could see a whole bunch of kayakers on Mirror Lake, which was fun. Back at camp, we hung out for the afternoon. Towards dinner time it started getting rainy. The kids moved to the trailer and played some games while the adults hung out under the canopies and talked. Then we all piled in the trailer and played some more games.
We were worried that it might get too cold for some of the kids in the tent, so we moved all of their bedding into the trailer and spread out on the floor. Shaun slept in their van with the dog but everyone else fit in the trailer.
Sunday, August 04 - We woke up kind of late and had a bit of a lazy morning. It had rained overnight so a lot of our gear was damp. We let it dry out and then got everything packed up. We got home around lunch time and unpacked and showered.
