Hype:

The beach between Hou and Bisnap lies along the Kattegat coast in eastern Jutland and offers a long, gently sloping shoreline with fine sand and dunes. The water is typically shallow and calm, which makes it especially suitable for families with children and for relaxed swimming during warmer months. The area feels open and natural, with space for walks along the water and views across the sea.

Hou and Bisnap are small holiday-oriented communities, and the beach reflects this laid-back character. Nearby summer houses, campsites, and small harbors give easy access to basic amenities without heavy commercialization. Cycling, beach walks, and light water activities such as kayaking or paddleboarding are common, while the surrounding countryside adds to the sense of quiet escape.

The beach is most attractive in late spring and summer when temperatures are warm and daylight hours are long. Outside peak season, the area becomes very peaceful and is well suited for nature lovers, photographers, and those seeking solitude, though swimming conditions are limited by colder water and wind.

Tuesday, July 22 – For breakfast, we had a traditional Danish breakfast of rolls. On top, we had a variety of options. They had chocolate strips that you can put on top that melt in, or cheeses or jam.

Everyone else went to the beach while I worked.

Story

Monday, July 21 – We all slept in a little bit and had a slow morning. We made breakfast burritos for everyone, and the Lausdahls kids didn’t like it because it was too strange. We walked to the beach and waded in the ocean. 

I worked from 2:00 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. while everyone else hung out at the summer home. They tried to play an escape room game that was in Danish, but that was too hard, so they played a different one—Unlock: Mysterium—instead.
