Ørsted Park, also known as Ørstedsparken, is located just outside Copenhagen’s old town and was opened in 1879 as part of the city’s transformation from fortified walls to open civic spaces. The park retains elements of the original moat system, now forming a long, scenic lake that defines much of its landscape.
The park is named after the Ørsted brothers, most notably Hans Christian Ørsted, the scientist who discovered electromagnetism. Statues and memorials throughout the park commemorate them and other notable Danish figures, blending cultural history with natural surroundings.
Today, Ørsted Park is a popular spot for walking, picnicking, relaxing, and family outings. With mature trees, varied plant life, playgrounds, and a café pavilion, it serves as a calm oasis amid busy city streets and is easily accessible from major transport hubs.

Monday, July 14 – In the morning, we walked from our house to the downtown area. We stopped and played on some playgrounds in Ørstedsparken on the way. They had some fun spinny toys, sandboxes, and other things.
