Hype:

The Bunkers at Hals are remnants of a German coastal battery constructed during World War II to protect strategic maritime routes near the Limfjord, reflecting Denmark’s role and experience during the German occupation. Built mainly between 1943 and 1944, the bunkers were designed to house artillery, ammunition, and personnel, forming part of a wider defensive network along the Danish coast.

Over time, most of the original structures were lost or buried, but several bunkers remain visible today, with at least one well-preserved bunker that visitors can enter. The site is unmanaged and free to visit, giving it a raw and authentic atmosphere that appeals to history enthusiasts, photographers, and curious travelers willing to explore carefully.

Set near the sea and surrounded by dunes and open landscapes, the bunkers combine historical significance with natural scenery. While there are no visitor facilities on site, the nearby town of Hals provides services, making the bunkers an easy and worthwhile stop for those exploring northern Jutland.

Story

In the afternoon, Kenneth, Tara, and the kids walked down the beach for 5 km to some World War II bunkers. They went inside the first bunker. 

There was a horse pasture there and they said hi to the horses. They also found a cherry tree and picked a whole bunch of cherries. They passed some other bunkers.

Tenna did some grocery shopping and picked everyone up in the car so they didn’t have to walk back. They got ice cream in town and said hi to Tenna’s stepdad.
