The Treetop Walk Harz stretches roughly a kilometer through the forest canopy, giving visitors an immersive perspective on the region’s trees, wildlife, and mountain scenery. Its design includes educational stations and viewpoints that highlight the unique ecology of the Harz Mountains. The walk is accessible for families, wheelchair users, and casual visitors, making it a popular all-season attraction.
Beyond offering scenic views, the treetop path connects visitors with the broader natural environment surrounding Bad Harzburg. Seasonal changes—spring blooms, summer greenery, autumn colors, and winter snow—make each visit distinct. The area also hosts occasional events that enhance the experience, depending on the time of year.
Located near additional attractions like the Burgberg cable system, the Treetop Walk Harz can easily be combined with other activities such as hiking or panoramic rides. Its convenient setting makes it a flexible stop for both short visits and longer nature outings within the Harz National Park region.
Trail Condition: Class 1 (Trail is either paved or gravel. Navigation skills are not needed because there is only one trail or because there are signs. Elevation gains are gradual or there are stairs.)
Then our first major stop was at Treetop Walk Harz, a tall steel tower with elevated boardwalks through the forest.
Along the trail, there were informational signs about the different plants and animals in the region and about astronomy stuff. We looked at the pictures but didn't do much reading since it was all in German. We enjoyed the sculptures and little obstacles along the trail.
At the end of the tree walk, the kids wanted to go all the way up to the top, but we were short on parking time since we only had one euro coin to pay for parking. So we walked down the trail and stopped at a few trim trail segments on the way down.
When we got back to the parking lot, we traded some bills for coins so we could add some more time to our parking meter, but we were 5 minutes too late and ended up getting a 20 Euro parking ticket. That was a pretty big bummer.
