Hype:

Nyhavn was constructed in the late 1600s as a commercial port where ships from around the world docked, bringing goods and sailors into the heart of Copenhagen. The narrow canal is lined with brightly painted townhouses, many of which date back to the 17th and 18th centuries. Several of Denmark’s most famous writers, including Hans Christian Andersen, lived in the area at different times.

Today, Nyhavn is one of Copenhagen’s most popular tourist destinations, filled with cafés, bars, and restaurants that spill out onto the quay during warmer months. While it was once a rough harbor district, it has transformed into a social and cultural hub that still retains its historic character. Wooden ships moored along the canal add to its traditional maritime feel.

Nyhavn also serves as a gateway to the city, with boat tours departing for the canals and harbor, and easy walking access to landmarks such as Amalienborg Palace and the Royal Playhouse. Though often busy, especially in summer, it remains one of the most recognizable and photographed locations in Copenhagen.

Story

After the museum, we walked down to Nyhavn again since it was on the way to the Metro stop. Tara and Madi switched shoes since Madi’s sandals were making the backs of her heels bleed. This time at Nyhavn, we got some good pictures, nobody was crying, and it wasn’t raining. Much better.

Since it was on the way, we took a couple pictures in front of Nyhavn. Nyhavn is a harbor with streets on both sides that have brightly painted buildings and lots of street restaurants.
