Warner Bros. Studio Tour London, officially known as Warner Bros. Studio Tour London – The Making of Harry Potter, is a hugely popular behind-the-scenes walk-through exhibition and studio tour at the original Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden (near Watford, just outside London). It opened to the public in 2012 and has become one of the most-visited and highly rated attractions in the UK, especially for fans of the Harry Potter films.

About the Experience

The tour lets you explore authentic film sets, props, costumes, and special effects from all eight Harry Potter movies. Highlights include the Great Hall, Diagon Alley, the Hogwarts Express, and many behind-the-scenes production exhibits that show how the films were made. Most visitors spend about 3–3.5 hours exploring at their own pace, but you’re free to linger longer.

Tickets & Booking: Tickets must be booked online in advance—there are no walk-up tickets at the door. Prices vary by season and ticket type, with standard adult tickets starting around £56 GBP (higher with package options and special events). 

Opening Times: Tours generally run daily, with the earliest sessions in the morning and the latest in the late afternoon or early evening depending on the time of year. 

Getting There: The easiest public transport route is via Watford Junction train station with a shuttle bus service up to the studios; driving and coach tours are also common. 

On-site: There are cafes (including themed drinks like Butterbeer), a gift shop with souvenirs, and family-friendly facilities.

Seasonal & Special Events

Throughout the year, the tour includes themed seasonal experiences such as Hogwarts in the Snow, Magical Mischief, and occasional exhibits celebrating anniversaries or unique film features, making return visits worthwhile.

Story

After dinner and games, we went to the Warner Bros. Harry Potter Studio Tour. This is where much of the Harry Potter film series was shot, with original sets, costumes, props, and behind-the-scenes displays. We arrived right at 7:00 as our tour was starting and had to be inserted into the group after the welcome room. 

The tour was awesome, but being the last group of the night meant we were constantly shuffled forward faster than we wanted. 

Cooper wanted to find all the hidden Golden Snitches, but we couldn’t go back for the ones we missed, and he was distraught. 

We took lots of pictures and videos and finished at 10:00, right at closing. Madi was tired and pouty by the end—tired feet and tired eyes. If we did it over, we’d book earlier so we could take our time. We especially loved the giant models, detailed sets, costumes, and live show. We got back to the hotel around 10:40, got ready for bed, and packed for departure in the morning.
